[H. macra : 1 - 3 feet, foliage glossy green, part shade to shade, slow spreader]
Hakonechloa macra will tolerate more sun than H. m. 'Aureola'(with good moisture), is hardier and faster growing. Loose clumps of arching dark green leaves look like bamboo. In summer the appealing flowers develop in-between the foliage and in the fall the foliage turns a coppery orange color. Use it as an excellent potted plant, a non-invasive ground cover or a handsome foliage foil.
